Our Data & Methodology
How we research, verify, and present medical tourism information.
How We Research Prices
We build our price ranges using multiple sources, then cross-check for consistency. Our process prioritizes official and verifiable sources first.
- Official hospital international patient price lists (where publicly available)
- Medical tourism industry reports (Patients Beyond Borders, IMTJ)
- Direct inquiries to hospital international departments
- Cross-referencing with patient-reported costs from forums and reviews
Prices are ranges, not guarantees. Your actual cost depends on complexity, surgeon, materials, and additional services.
How We Use Patient-Reported Data
Patient stories from forums, reviews, and public discussion can reveal useful planning questions, but they are not the same as verified clinical or pricing data.
- We use patient-reported data to identify common concerns and questions.
- We do not treat Reddit posts, reviews, or anecdotes as proof of outcomes.
- We label patient-reported signals as self-reported or publicly mentioned.
- We do not use anonymous stories to claim that a clinic is safe, best, or guaranteed.

How We Select Hospitals
We include hospitals based on transparent research criteria, not commercial ranking arrangements.
- JCI accreditation status (verified via JCI directory)
- International patient volume (publicly reported figures)
- Language capabilities and international support
- Specialization areas relevant to common medical travel needs
- Patient satisfaction data (where publicly available)
How We Update Clinic and Cost Data
Medical travel information changes often. Prices, doctor rosters, international patient support, and package inclusions can change without public notice.
- We track when core cost and hospital data was last reviewed.
- We prefer official or publicly verifiable sources when they are available.
- We mark uncertain information as unknown instead of turning it into a fake number.
- We ask readers to confirm quotes, inclusions, credentials, and follow-up directly.
How Medvoyal Makes Money
Medvoyal currently earns revenue from optional paid planning reports. The free guides, quiz, hospital pages, and cost tools remain available without requiring payment.
- Hospitals do not pay to appear higher in our listings.
- Paid reports do not change how hospitals are ranked or described on public pages.
- Future affiliate revenue, if added, must be disclosed and must not influence medical selection.
- Our default position is independent planning support, not clinic promotion.
What We Don't Know
- We cannot verify individual surgeon credentials beyond what hospitals publish.
- Complication rates specific to medical tourists are not publicly tracked in one unified dataset.
- Prices change frequently, so you should always confirm directly with hospitals.
- We have not personally visited every hospital listed.
How to Verify Information Yourself
- JCI accreditation lookup: jointcommissioninternational.org
- Thailand references: Ministry of Public Health and Tourism Authority of Thailand medical tourism resources
- South Korea references: VisitMedicalKorea.com and Korea Health Industry Development Institute resources
- Always request a detailed written quote before committing.
- Ask for before/after photos and patient references where relevant.
